Lana Del Rey Grabs Big Grammy Noms

The 2020 Grammy nominations are already out with some surprises and well, with obvious nominations, including the end-of-the debate if Lizzo should be treated as a new artist... she is. Snubs are in too, like every year and every award... since inception.

Lana Del Rey has been around for awhile, but as Lana since 2011 thanks to "Video Games". Since then she has released five studio albums, countless singles, a film and more importantly, evolved as her own kind of artist and persona. Her vocals are stronger... when she sings and when she make a political statement... while she sings.

She was snubbed by the Recording Academy many times, but this year, she kinda turned tables. Her most acclaimed album, Ultraviolence (2014), didn't a received a single nomination and just two out of five albums received one, in a niche category. And no, not in the Alternative field, in Pop.

Lana's first nomination came in 2013 with Paradise for Best Pop Vocal Album and "Young and Beautiful" for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Then for her contribution for The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness in 2015. Again, for Best Pop Vocal Album thanks to Lust for Life in 2017. She didn't win, and haven't performed either on the show, but she did attend.

But things shifted this year, for the first time in her career, Del Rey received two main nominations thanks to her critically acclaimed album Norman Fucking Rockwell! (2019). The album is nominated for Album of the Year and the song of the same name for Song of the Year. Is this Lana's Best Fucking Chance to win her first Grammy?! Or at least, her chance to perform for the first time on that stage? We will have to wait until January 26.
